G’Day
I’m Rob. This is Bathtub Kitchen. A guide to unfussy cooking in small spaces.
I am a self-taught home cook. Moving from apartment to apartment in New York City, I’ve worked out (many times the hard way) how to cook for one, cook for two and cook for ten in spaces of all shapes and sizes.
This site is dedicated to making you a better home apartment cook. Flavor-packed, approachable recipes, drawn from the world of New York, with an Australian twist.
How we cook
By championing three cooking principles of simplicity (there shouldn’t be an exhaustive list of equipment or pantry staples you need), efficiency (every recipe abides by the two-pot policy - no one likes washing up!) and flexibility (mix and match ingredients based on what you have on hand / how bothered you can be to schlep to the store), we’ll have you in the kitchen and cooking regularly - no excuses!
What we cook
Pastas inspired by the superb Italian restaurants that litter Manhattan’s West Village. A trip into Chinatown and you’re armed with the ingredients for quick and delicious stir fries and curries. Big salads and punchy veggie dishes brought to you by the Union Square farmers market. And plates that champion sustainably sourced meat from the local Brooklyn butcher. Classic and contemporary cooking, with a no-fuss Aussie approach.
